FEE FREE !

As of February 1, 2005, the library has temporarily suspended the charge for checking out
Audio Visual materials.  The library has been able to balance the budget and make necessary
cuts elsewhere, allowing a return of our previous policy of no charge for AV materials.
Stop in or call today for that DVD or CD you’ve been waiting for!

Tax Assistance

Tax counselors with the Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) program will be at the Bristol Public Library every Monday beginning February 7 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Free tax aid is offered to individuals who cannot afford professional tax assistance, senior citizens, the disabled, and others having special needs.  This service is provided on a first come, first serve basis through April 11, 2005.  No appointments are accepted.  All individuals should be at the library by 12:30 p.m. and must bring their previous year’s records, social security number, and identification, as well as all pertinent information that may be needed.
Many tax forms and publications are also available at the library.  Less common forms are in reproducible format or may be printed from the Internet at irs.gov.  Copies and printouts are 10 cents per page.

Continuous Book Sale

Check out the library's continuous book sale located by the circulation desk.  New items are added daily and are only $.25 cents each.  Don't miss out on the bargains

                      Super Display

Do you know the first city that held the Super Bowl up north?  Did the Super Bowl ever have a different name?  You can find out the answers to these questions and many more when you visit
“38 Years of Super Bowl Memories” on display during the months of January and February.

Bristol resident, David Reynolds, has been collecting Super Bowl programs for the last 29 years.  Although he has never been to a Super Bowl himself, David’s super collection consists of
42 programs: 38 original and 4 special editions.  The first ten editions were the hardest for him to find, while the others were purchased from ads or given as gifts.

Approximately ninety-five percent of the collection is in mint condition, including the program from Super Bowl V.  This edition is rumored to be valuable because a truck over turned and copies were lost in the snow.  David and his wife have been collecting many types of memorabilia for years and now have their own store in Orwell.
This rare and stunning collection has only been on display once before, and that was in Florida.  Do you know the only year you can tell at a glance, which two teams played? What year did the trophy first appear on the cover?  Come see this SUPER display today.

KnowItNow24x7 is a live online reference service. Professional librarians equipped with all the resources available at your library (both print and digital) are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to answer your reference questions and assist you in finding information. Once logged on, you and a librarian engage in a "chat" session that features co-browsing capabilities. You can watch and participate as librarians skillfully navigate the Internet to find precise answers to your questions. Librarians can also convert print documents into digital format and email these resources right to you (limited by copyright restrictions). At the conclusion of each KnowItNow24x7 session, you will receive a complete transcript of your session via email that includes links to all Internet resources shared during that session.

HomeworkNow has online tutors available from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. seven days a week to assist with your homework.  Librarians specializing in English, Math, Science, and Social Studies are on hand to help.

ReadThisNow lets you chat live with a librarian to help you find your next good book.
Bristol Public Library patrons have access to these services with the link in our left hand column.

The projects were supported in whole or in part by federal Institute of Museum and Library Services fund, granted by the State Library of Ohio.

The Bristol Public Library Board of Trustees will hold their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, February 1 at 7:00 p.m. in the meeting room at the library.  The meetings are open to the public.  If you need an interpreter for the hearing impaired, please contact the library one week prior to the meeting.
